The story

I forgot the admin password of a D-Link of the NEK

and there is no way documented reset it at boot time, which is quite secure.

Also opening the casing to look for reset pins and batteries did not help.

So I gave up.

One year Later

More than one year later, while setting up an event with the NEK,

by accident I connected PoE charged cable into the switch while it was powered up.

The PoE is 48 Volt 0,5A.

The switch was blinking all it led's and looks a kind of unhappy......

I expected damage!!!

However afet a powercyle it seems undamaged and allows traffic, nice.

Pfew....back to business.

I configured a pingable ipadress for monitoring on this switch. My monitoring system claimed the switch offline.

So took a serial cable to see how bad the damage was. However it gladly supprised I could logon to the switch

without a password and all my configuration is lost.

I reconfigured my old settings an a new password....
